What is Coaching?

My experience is in two distinct areas:

Life Coaching

The emphasis in life coaching is on the achievement of personal goals or objectives. Often the emphasis is on work or fullfillment in life generally. My approach is action-orientated using the G.R.O.W. and solution-focused models to explore what your ultimate dreams and goals are, then looking at motivation, what options are available and what actions are needed as well as what blocks or obstacles may be holding you back. What if anything needs to change and how can that happen? Life coaching sessions are usually with individuals rather than organisations and often range from 1 hour to 1 and a half hours monthly. Secondly:

Business Coaching

Business coaching is often organised and offered through employer organisations, using the organisation's business objectives as the central focus of the work. Business coaching is proving highly effective in offering time and space to individuals in busy, pressured environments to focus and re-frame effort to improve results, helping motivate and harness energy strategically to achieve and improve business targets.

I have over fifteen years of experience of working in management in both small and extremely complex businesses within the media and this is extremely useful in supporting the focus needed from managers on how to facilitate and lead change in their teams. My management training at Ashridge and experience working for the Ashridge-BBC coaching partnership proves very useful with my work. I have trained in group work as a psychotherapy supervisor and find it can be helpful to name some of the dynamics that occur in groups working together in order to problem-solve and get on with the work at hand.

I also work with people who are self-employed and looking for support and facilitation to focus on setting and achieving relevant business objectives to increase their success.

What benefits can be expected? An increase in focus and strategic action in order to achieve business goals.

In tandem with my training in psychotherapy, I work in the media, and lecture in photography, Once I qualified as a psychotherapist, I trained with the BBC as a BBC business coach in 2002 and worked as a Business Coach at the BBC for three years before setting up my own consultancy Push Communications. My approach in coaching is supportive, motivational and action-oriented. More recently I have trained with the CCPE as a Psychotherapy Supervisor.

What does coaching cost? My usual fee is £85for a 50 minute session and £120 for a one and a half hour session for individuals and £400 for a morning session for corporations, universities, but fees are negotiable depending on circumstances.
